Signatory members FAQ

No, but all retailers who are making Canadian diamond claims must be able to substantiate their claims. The inability to substantiate such claims could find them in contravention of the Competition Act. If you do become a Code Signatory member, you must comply with the Code and display in plain view a Canadian Diamond Code Committee (CDCC) approved Signatory decal or sign indicating compliance with the Code.

If you are a miner, trader, cutter/polisher, jewellery manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer selling diamonds mined in Canada you are invited to become a Canadian Diamond Code Signatory. Click here for the Signatory Member registration form.

If you are a gemmological laboratory you are invited to become a Code Associate Signatory member. Click here for the Associate Signatory registration form

You may ask your supplier if he/she is a Code Signatory member. The Code Committee will publish and maintain on this website a list of all Code Signatory members. Go to Code Signatory member Registry. You may also obtain confirmation of Code Signatory members by contacting the CDCC. All Code Signatory members must ensure that they purchase diamonds mined in Canada from suppliers that abide by the minimum requirements outlined in the Code if they wish to represent these diamonds as Canadian.

A Code Signatory member found in non-compliance with this Code may be removed as a Code Signatory member from the Code Registry. Failure to authenticate diamonds represented as Canadian may lead to an investigation by the Competition Bureau and subsequent enforcement action pursued under the false or misleading representations provisions of the Competition Act.
